Discussion Forum - Disclosures in Financial Reporting
The IASB recently announced that it would host a discussion forum on disclosures in financial reporting. The purpose of this message is to provide further information on the Forum and to encourage attendance.
Background
The idea of the forum was raised in May, 2012 at the IASB meeting, and received broad support. The main purpose of the forum is to assess strategies for improving the quality of financial reporting disclosures. The key questions the forum will try and address are:
“Is there a disclosure ‘problem’ and if so, what is that problem and how can it be addressed?”
When and where?
· When: Monday 28 January 2013, 8.30 to 15.00 (GMT). Lunch will be provided.
· Where: the Great Hall, Chartered Accountant’s Hall, One Moorgate Place, London, EC2R 6EA
What is on the agenda?
· We are still finalising the agenda and will post it soon.
Who can attend?
· The forum is a public meeting with open registration. The venue seats approximately 220 people. Depending on availability we may need to limit the number of people per organisation.
· We have received approximately 100 expressions of interest so far from a wide range of participants.
How do people register?
· Those interested in attending must email Katherine Maybin ([email protected]) who will confirm attendance via return email.
· Registration closes on Friday 11 January 2013.
Will the discussion forum be webcast and/or recorded?
· Yes – the meeting will be audio webcast and a recording available on the IASB’s website after the forum.
